San Lorenzo still feels like a neighbourhood that belongs to students and night owls, with late dinners and walls full of posters. Spend the afternoon in Villa Borghese, then watch the city go gold from the Pincio terrace. Coming Out, just above the Colosseum, does drag and bingo most nights of the week, and the terrace is half the point.

In June the Pride parade crosses the centre. Any other evening, gelato on the walk home is the correct last decision.
