Stay and hang with queers in New York

Photo: Luca Bravo on Unsplash

Queer New York has gathered on the Christopher Street Pier for generations, and on any warm weekend the lawn out over the Hudson is covered in picnic blankets and friends of friends. On the hottest days, head out to Jacob Riis, the Rockaways beach that queer New Yorkers have made their own for decades. Get back to the pier in time to watch the sun sink behind New Jersey. Then cross to Brooklyn for pool and a backyard drink at Ginger's in Park Slope, or a late dance under the red lights at Mood Ring in Bushwick.

On Halloween, giant puppets sway up Sixth Avenue in the Village Halloween Parade, and anyone in costume can march along. The rest of the year, Sunday means a lazy Prospect Park picnic with the crew from last night.
