Stay and hang with queers in Bangkok

Photo: Timo Wagner on Unsplash

Queer Bangkok comes out at night in Silom, but by day Lumphini Park across the road is where the city exhales, with swan boats on the lake and monitor lizards sunbathing on the banks. Weekend mornings are for wandering the endless stalls of Chatuchak Weekend Market. Around sunset, board a river boat on the Chao Phraya and watch Wat Arun light up as the sky fades. Once it is dark, slip back into Silom for drag at The Stranger Bar on Soi 4, then wind down nearby at TUFF, a lesbian bar where friends of every gender are welcome.

Every November, Loy Krathong fills the river and the park lakes with little candlelit floats of flowers, each carrying a wish. Pick a place by the water with the people you have met and send yours off together.
